Stroll through colorful garden landscapes, lie under palm trees and gaze at snow-capped mountains, listen to world-famous musical groups by the water lily pond: There’s so much to do in Trauttmansdorff near Merano.

The gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle cover 12 hectares with an elevation difference of 100 meters. This offers spectacular views of the more than 80 garden landscapes, the surrounding mountains, and the city of Merano. Gently winding paths take you on a journey through four garden worlds featuring plants from all over the globe, past sunny terraces and babbling brooks. A stroll through the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle is an experience every time—and different each time. The gardens change week by week. A sea of tulips heralds the arrival of spring, followed by rhododendrons, peonies and roses. In summer, the sunflower field and the many summer flowers and perennials glow with vibrant colours until autumn bathes the gardens in atmospheric hues.

You will travel directly from the hotel to Merano in a private minibus. You’ll have free time between 2:00 and 6:00 p.m. to explore the gardens. Afterward, you’ll be driven back to Pontresina.
