Respectful treatment of nature and our valuable resources, environmental awareness and sustainable action are very important to us and have long been anchored in the mission statement of the Hotel Steinbock. We stand for family values, security and reliability in a fast-changing, complex, globalised world. We are convinced that many small measures already have an effect. We are committed to this - every day anew!
Food & Beverage
We work with regional and seasonal products. Many of which (pasta at our Trattoria, patisserie, refreshments) are homemade or delivered from local producers (Glacier-Fondue, Engadine beer, Puschlav organic tea, etc.).
Whenever possible, we buy seasonal and regional produce. We work with local suppliers and ensure short delivery routes. Purchasing cooperations with other hotels reduce transport. We buy cleaning agents and detergents in bulk.
3/4 of the light sources have already been converted to LED. We work with motion detectors and timers. PCs, printers and other devices are switched off when not in use. We use a peak control system with defined current peaks.
Building & renovation
Careful renovation with regional craftsmen. Good window insulation. Fire prevention & organisation.
We use the waste heat in the indoor pool to heat the water. The soundproof ceiling in the hotel bar curbs noise. Active participation in programmes to reduce CO2 emissions and optimise energy efficiency.
Recycling & disposal
We avoid waste wherever possible. Targeted training of our employees to reduce waste from the kitchen and thus food waste. Strict separation of all waste. Food waste goes to the biogas plant (renewable energy, CO2-neutral). Candle residues are recycled.
Soap in sustainable large bottles with dosing system - 100% recycable. Sustainable laundry management. No plastic packaging.
Ongoing investment in equipment and machinery (power efficiency, quality, cleaning). Oil filter device. Sustainability training, etc.
Digital communication internally and externally. Minimisation of postal dispatch. DSGVO regulation.
Education and training, training of junior staff and employees. Benefits and bonuses. Long-term working relationships.
We avoid unnecessary printing, print on both sides or process electronically with suitable infrastructure.
Water-saving taps throughout the hotel. Toilets with reduced flush. Annual training courses. Support project «mortalive.ch».
Free use of public transport (bus and train), in summer from 2 nights also mountain railways for our guests. Mountain bikes and e-mountain bikes (for a fee) for guests. Shuttle service.
We support the «Special Olympics» and the «MortAlive» project to protect the Morteratsch glacier. At the hotel, we are constantly driving sustainable projects forward.
